چکیده

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures built before the 1970 represent a large portion of existing European buildings stock. Their obsolescence in terms design criteria, materials, and functionality is becoming critical issue for guaranteeing adequate compliance with current structural codes. Recently, new jacketing system based on use high-performance fiber-reinforced (HPFRC) has been introduced strengthening RC building members. Despite promising aspects HPFRC technique, currently, comprehensive systematic technical framework its implementation still missing. In this paper, experimental performance columns strengthened jacket subjected to pure axial load combined load-bending moment uncoupled from shear investigated. The test outcomes confirmed significant improvement columns, especially higher values eccentricity. Finally, standard-based practice-oriented analytical tool designing retrofit interventions using proposed. comparison between calculated results revealed satisfactory prediction capability.

Behaviour of FRP strengthened concrete columns under eccentric compression loading

This paper presents results of testing eccentrically loaded columns externally wrapped with two types of materials. Six cylindrical (205 mm diameter and 925 mm height) plain columns were cast and tested. Half of the columns were wrapped with GFRP and the other half with CFRP. All columns were tested by applying an axial load at 50 mm eccentricity. In each group (GFRP or CFRP wrapped) of columns...

Experimental investigation of octagonal partially encased composite columns subject to concentric and eccentric loading

Partially Encased Composite (PEC) column is one of the recent achievements in the field of composite columns. This paper presents a combined experimental and theoretical study on the mechanical performances of six octagonal PEC columns subjected to axial compressive and bending moment loading. The major different between them was the concrete reinforcement details. The parameters studied in the...

Behavior Comparison of Uniaxial Cylindrical Columns Strengthened with CFRP

In recent years application of CFRP sheets in the strengthening of the concrete circular column has increased numerously. Knowing the exact behavior of concrete cylindrical columns confined with CFRP is of the first order of importance. ISIS Code of Canada has given relations for strength increase of circular columns confined with CFRP sheets, these relations are defined for a specified range o...

Numerical and Experimental Investigations on the Behavior of Steel-reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Eccentric Loading

Steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are classified as composite columns, became the most widely used in recent years; because of their extensive advantages over the reinforced concrete and the steel columns. In this paper, the ductility index and its influential factors were explored to investigate the behavior of SRC columns. A straightforward approach was then proposed by establish...

Experimental Study on Axial Compression Behavior of RC Columns Under Rapid Loadings

In this study, experimental study on six RC columns with different slenderness ratios under axial rapid loading was conducted to investigate the axial compression behaviour of RC columns considering the effect of strain rates. The failure pattern of the specimens and the relations of axial loading versus the axial deformation were described. From the test results, the specimens under static and...
